For those of you who have been coming here for a while for our football content, it may come as a shock to you that we’ll be covering basketball (yes, we know there’s more to life than football… sometimes.)
After months and months of FBS and FCS play, you’ll be seeing plenty of hardcourt coverage for the rest of the season. Now, the biggest question you might have is about how this will work? Will we cover the same teams we’ve been covering all this time or will we start reaching out into uncharted territory, like the Missouri Valley Conference and the Horizon League?
To change things up a bit, we’ll have a list of about 10 to 15 teams which will change on a biweekly basis depending on how each team is playing, popularity with readers and notoriety among the mid-majors. Some weeks you may see more of UAB, other weeks will have more Georgia State or Southern Methodist.
Why take this path? Simply put, we want to provide you with the best amount of teams while being able to put more focus and thought into certain programs. This is not to spite any fan base or team’s effort, it’s just what has to be done if we want to avoid overwhelming each writer with 10 teams to write about.
Think about it like this: You can go to the buffet and get mountains worth of food for yourself, but the thought and quality aren’t going to be put into it because there’s just so much food that has to be put out. Think of our content as your local specialty restaurant: you won’t always be able to get everything on the menu, but there always will be something solid to have. We want you to have a regular and diverse menu of well-cooked food, not a giant shitpile of half-heated egg foo young, you feel me?
There are a handful of programs that we intend to start making a focus of our site (for all sports) including Army, New Mexico State, UAB, MTSU and Idaho, but the remainder of the teams we cover will be changing regularly and can always be influenced by you, the reader. Coming into this new year, we hope you continue to visit our site as the season goes on and help shape how we develop going forward.
