Game Time: 2:45 PM EST, Friday, March 17th

Location: Indianapolis

No. 2 Louisville (24-8) vs. No. 15 Jacksonville State (20-14) The Jacksonville State Gamecocks finished third in the Ohio Valley East in the regular season, but they won their conference tournament, so who cares!? The Gamecocks are making their first appearance in the Division 1 NCAA tournament. Louisville comes in finishing second place in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Cards lost in the ACC tournament in the Quarterfinals to Duke.

Key Players

All of them, Jacksonville State The Gamecocks have four players averaging more than 10 points, with none of them averaging more than 13. They share the wealth.

Donovan Mitchell, Louisville A four-star recruit and the number one player from the state of Connecticut passed up several division one offers to attend Louisville. The sophomore has averaged 15.7 points per game and nearly five rebounds leading the Cardinals in offensive production. Mitchell uses his athleticism very well to score his points to help out UL.

Final Thoughts: Congrats Jacksonville State Hey, they made the tournament in the Ohio Valley Conference, which almost always puts out only one team into the big dance. It’s a huge accomplishment for the players, the coaches, the fans, the students and the alumni. Something to be proud of and definitely something they will never forget.

Bonus Final Thoughts: Louisville has a tougher road than most people think Looking down the road, and I know it’s the tournament and anything can happen but after injuries to Oregon’s Chris Boucher many are thinking the Cards are a lock for the Elite-Eight. NOT SO FAST! Yes, I miss Lee Corso a lot. But this is March Madness, enough about him. Anyway, the cards could have a potential 2013 finals rematch against a very hot Michigan team in the second round. If they were to win it’s likely to say they would face Oregon, which is down, but definitely not out. Either way, Louisville is a team to watch no doubt.
