The season is finally here folks, we’ve been waiting a real long time for college football to get here, but the wait is over.
Army is expecting big things this season. They are considered by some to be the favorite Commander-in-Chief Trophy. They had an amazing season last year, but can the Black Knights build upon that momentum?

Ejekam and Walker were expected to be the leaders of the receivers and slotbacks, respectively. This will no doubt hurt the Black Knights but it shouldn’t stop them completely as they have depth in those two positions.
Expect slotback Jordan Asberry to step up big time, not only in the ground game, but through the air as well.
Jeff Monken has his guy at quarterback now, no more questioning it like we did before last season, it’s Ahmad Bradshaw. He’s proven he is the leader the triple-option attack needs. He led the drive to end the streak against Navy and proved his worth in the bowl game, keeping his composure in a big overtime win.
Army’s defense will need to find a way to make up for the production of their two leading tacklers last season, Andrew King and Jeremy Timpf, as they graduated. With that being said though, the Black Knights have plenty of guys who can step in their place, Firstie Alex Aukerman is poised for a huge season along side Kenneth Brinson, these two are the keys to the Army defense that finished 4th in the nation in total defense.
Kicking… do I need to say more? Army has struggled mightily the past few seasons when it comes to kicking. Doesn’t matter if its field goals, extra points, punts, or kickoffs, Army was bad at it. In a recent interview, head coach Jeff Monken said that kicker Blake Wilson might be the most improved player on the team. Hopefully, he’s right and Wilson starts nailing PATs, and FGs.
Fordham might be an FCS team, but they are not to be taken lightly, after all, it wasn’t too long ago when they came to West Point and beat the Black Knights.
Fordham is returning star running back Chase Edmonds, who ran for 1,799 yards last season, as well as QB Kevin Anderson, who threw for 2,724 yards. The Rams have a very balanced attack that could give the Black Knight defense fits.
Fordham has absolutely nothing to lose, no one but themselves are picking them to win. This is Army’s game to lose, this is where they crubbled in past seasons, but this year should be different.
Even without two key starters, the Black Knights should be able to handle the Rams from Fordham. Army just has too many weapons on both sides of the ball for them not to. I expect a close first half and then in the second half, Army’s depth to help them will pull away. Army’s defense might struggle with Edmonds for a little but get him under control shortly after.
