A total of 15 players have been picked up by an NFL team since the draft started on Thursday, with Arkansas State and Appalachian State leading the way with three and four players respectively.
Below is a complete list of each draftee, with a short breakdown, and every player picked up as an undrafted free agent so far.
Drafted
S Tracy Walker- Round 3, Pick 18 Detroit Lions
Louisiana-Lafayette
This was a little surprising. Walker was expected to be drafted over the weekend but not nearly this high. Walker shot up draft boards with a strong showing in the East-West Shrine Game and in the combine after catching the attention of GM’s with his ball-hawking ability during the season.
WR Jaleel Scott- Round 4, Pick 32 Baltimore Ravens
New Mexico State
Digging into the magical story the 2017 Aggies were you’ll find another one in Jaleel Scott. The wide out went from depth receiver on a Sun Belt team to NFL draft pick in the span of a year. Scott led the conference in receptions and touchdowns and was second in receiving yards. He’ll be jostling for a roster spot while catching passes from Lamar Jackson.
DB Simeon Thomas- Round 6, Pick 14 Cleveland Browns
Louisiana-Lafayette
The Rajin’ Cajuns haven’t had a pass defense rank in the top half of the Sun Belt since 2009 yet here we are. Half of the conference’s draft picks are straight out of the Lafayette secondary. Thomas is a highly athletic and versatile defensive back, one that an NFL coaching staff could mold into a solid contributor.
G Colby Gossett- Round 6, Pick 39 Minnesota Vikings
Appalachian State
Gossett was an anchor piece in the machine that is the App State Mountaineers. The 6-5, 311 pound Senior Bowl alum became the first guard ever drafted out of the Sun Belt when the Vikings picked him up with the hopes of adding a two-position depth piece. Gossett has NFL size and can both play both guard and tackle.
