Each year in College Football the Davey O’Brien Award is given to the nation’s best quarterback. Some recent winners of the award are Baker Mayfield and Deshaun Watson. Nathan Rourke has a chance to put his name right up there with those guys this season. Rourke, Ohio Univeristy’s Junior quarterback is going into his second season as the starter. He’s coming off of breakout season where he threw for over 2200 yards and had 17 passing touchdowns. He also set a school record with 21 trips to pay dirt on the ground and racked up a cool 912 rushing yards.
Along with being on the O’Brien Award watchlist, Rourke has also been put on the Maxwell Award watchlist. This award is given to the nation’s player of the year. With the OU quarterback being placed on these lists, it has to have the coaches and school excited for what’s to come this year. They will be looking for a MAC championship, and another bowl win.
A big year can be expected out of the Ontario, Canada native. He was also named a team captain for the new season. It will certainly be one that will have people tuning in for #MACtion week in and week out.
