Army 2019 Recruiting Preview

Army has an upcoming recruiting class that could make some big waves on the future of the program that is currently rising, and doing it fast.

By the Numbers

  • 14 commits
  • 3rd best class of the 6 FBS Independents
  • 0.8013 average rating
  • 6 3 star commits
  • 88th ranked class nationally

Player Highlights

Simon Dellinger, TE. Dellinger has a frame of 6’6″ 225, and is a phenomenal blocker. He has the ability to set the edge on tosses in the option. Whenever the Black Knights throw, he will create a big target and is a great hit-and-release route runner. Dellinger fits perfectly in the triple option scheme, and will be a great addition at West Point.
Cole Mabry, LB. Mabry provides speed as a rusher standing at 6’2″ 195. He also showed great strengths in the pass coverage, playing some snaps at Strong Safety. Racking up 82 tackles, as well as 5 TFLs and 2 sacks in his junior season as a state runner up. Watching him play, he is always chasing down the ball, and can catch nearly anyone. He also shows he has patience and does not over-shoot the play often. Cole Mabry will be a great LB for Army Football following Alex Aukerman, Cole Christansen, and James Nachtigal.
Dillon Gabriel, QB. It is surprising to see Monken go after pro-style quarterbacks. Since his arrival at Army, the starting quarterbacks have all been dual threats. Gabriel, though, showed great ability to avoid tackles when his pocket collapsed, and scramble or make a throw. He throws a great ball on the run, which is very good skill. Against what could be the best High School football team in the nation, St. John Bosco, Gabriel showed strengths in making plays from nothing, and showed great accuracy on a 48 yard touchdown pass. His offensive line broke down often, but he made plays to avoid getting sacked, and not hold onto the ball too long. Gabriel could be the player that brings in even more passing than what Hopkins is doing right now.
