The Matt Breida era has begun by the bay. On Sunday Breida had his best as a pro when he gained 138 yards on 10 carries with one spectacular 66-yard touchdown run:
He added 3 catches for 21 yards through the air. Eagles fans might have been robbed of the chance to see Jerick McKinnon and Matt Breida play in the same backfield when McKinnon went down with a knee injury, but Breida is making the most of his opportunity. His effort Sunday was good enough to make The Cheetah the NFL’s leading rusher through two games. He’s also leading in a couple other categories:
Breida is staking his claim to the starting job. His competition is a possibly washed-up Alfred Morris. After his performance Sunday, I think it’s safe to say that it’s Breida’s to lose at this point.
