Well well well… what an interesting week of football. UCF dominated after losing their star QB to an awful knee injury, UAB lost again, App St beat Troy.
It was a fun week, let’s jump into the rankings.
- UCF– The Knights lost their leader on Friday, McKenzie Milton went down with a horrific knee/leg injury. When he went down the score was 7-0, after backup QB Darnell Mack took over, UCF outscored the Bulls of USF 31-10. Now the Knights have to face Memphis for the fourth time in two years in the AAC Championship game. *Sidenote* UCF fans/players are asking that people who are going to the game wear Hawaiian lei’s in support of Milton.
- Boise State– The Broncos beat Utah State to force a rematch with Fresno State in the Mountain West Championship Game. The Broncos move up one spot from last week due to the UAB loss.
- Army– The Black Knights held firm at #23 in the AP Poll, we will see if they make it into the CFP rankings. They had a bye this past week and have another this week before the Army-Navy Game on December 8th.
- Appalachian State– The Mountaineers put up 21 first-half points on the Trojans of Troy but then didn’t score at all in the second half. They will face off with Louisiana in the Sun Belt Championship Game this week.
- Fresno State– SJSU almost had them… at halftime. It was 3-0 Fresno State at the half, after that the Bulldogs went on a 28-7 run before SJSU made it 31-13 with a garbage-time touchdown. They get to try to beat Boise State in Boise for the first time since 1984 in the Mountain West Championship Game this week.
- Utah State– A tough loss to Boise State keeps the Aggies at six.
- MTSU/UAB tie– *this week’s edition of it’s not my poll, but it is, but it isn’t* I had MTSU over UAB because they won, but you also have to remember that UAB was missing seven starters and half of their O-line. We will see who wins the rematch this week in the C-USA Championship Game.
- Buffalo– Welcome back Bulls, I missed you. It should be a fun matchup in the MAC Championship Game against NIU.
- Memphis– Another welcome back! I’m not going to lie, I didn’t really miss the Tigers. But they deserve to be here. They have a chance to end the longest win streak in college football on Saturday. Can it happen?
