The hockey season isn’t over yet, but that doesn’t mean we can’t track the recruiting process and the players who’ll be eligible to play in upcoming seasons.
Army currently has a total of 18 commitments, most coming from either the NAHL, USHL or NEPrep, with only one from the USPNCD. But because some of them committed awhile ago (the longest one from 2016), I’ll only cover commitments from this and late last year.
5 of the 8 commits I’ll cover are eligible to play next season, and the other 3 will be able to in 2 years.
Below is a table I’ve created which I will update bi-weekly, if there’s added commitments.
|Name (LAST, First)||Current Team||Age||Starting Year||Position|
|SMYTH, Patrick||Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL)||19||'19-'20||Center|
|KERANEN, John||Minnesota Magicians (NAHL)||20||'19-'20||Forward|
|CIOLLI, Luke||Fairbanks Ice Dogs (NAHL)||19||'20-'21||Center|
|MIKLAKOS, Stefan||Avon Old Farms PS Winged Beavers (NEPrep)||19||'20-'21||Center|
|EVENSON, Justin||Amarillo Bulls (NAHL)||20||'19-'20||Goalie|
|SACCO, Micheal||Odessa Jackalopes (NAHL)||19||'20-'21||Forward|
|MACHLITT, Mitchell||New Jersey Titans (NAHL)||20||'19-'20||Center|
|ABDELNOUR, Brett||Amarillo Bulls (NAHL)||20||'19-'20||Left Wing|
Most of these guys will probably play JV for their first two years before they see the Varsity game roster.
This class is obviously filled with forwards, which isn’t necessarily strange, but I hope to see some more defensemen commit sometime soon.
What will be fun to watch is two current teammates (Abdelnour, Evenson) play together again at West Point. It’s a forward-goalie tandem, but there will be some good chemistry already built.
