Week 4 of the AAF kicks off this Saturday, so let’s take a look at the action.
Game One: San Diego at Memphis
Kickoff: March 2, 4pm (Eastern)
Location: Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, Memphis, TN
TV: B/R Live, YouTube streaming
The Express could be on their way to get their first win in AAF history in what I expect to be a close game with the Fleet. Yes, San Diego did demolish San Antonio last week, but Memphis is a hungry team in the hunt to finally get a tally in the W column. Memphis came close a few times, but still hasn’t gotten one yet. A hot Fleet team vs a starving Express one is going to make for either a really exciting game or a really boring one. Or I could be wrong, and the game could be completely lopsided.
Score prediction: 16-14 Express
Game Two: Orlando at Salt Lake
Kickoff: March 2, 8pm (Eastern)
Location:Rice-Eccles Stadium, Salt Lake City, UT
TV: NFL Network, YouTube streaming
This game should be interesting. The Stallions just came off of their first win, so unlike Memphis, aren’t in the hunt for their first. But the Appollos are undefeated and on a hot streak right now. They’re the team to beat in the entire Alliance, but they’re not playing in the Bounce House. They’re playing at Rice-Eccles, where the Stallions just got their first win. Salt Lake is going to try and continue the home field magic, and might just give Orlando a run for their money. But I don’t think they will.
Score prediction: 27-8 Appollos
Game Three: San Antonio at Birmingham
Kickoff: March 3, 4pm (Eastern)
Location:Legion Field, Birmingham, AL
TV: CBS Sports Network, YouTube streaming
San Antonio has been on a steep slide down since the week 1 win over San Diego, and I don’t expect that to stop versus a team like the Iron. Birmingham will look to be the only other team still undefeated, along with Orlando which is very possible vs the Commanders. Logan Woodside for San Antonio has been inconsistent and the defense has been weak since after week 1. This should be an easy game for Trent Richardson to run all over.
Score prediction: 22-6 Iron
Game Four: Atlanta at Arizona
Kickoff: March 3, 8pm (Eastern)
Location: Sun Devil Stadium, Tempe, AZ
TV: NFL Network, YouTube
The Legends have looked like the weakest team in the entire Alliance. They were the first victim of the Appollos Big 12-like offense, getting absolutely destroyed in week 1. But hey, at least they scored the first points in Alliance history, right? But they also do hold the record for the worst defeat in Alliance history as well. So it’s a bit of give and take. Unfortunately for them, they’re playing Arizona, who will probably make their defense give up a bunch of points and take the ball away from their offense. So this should be an easy win for the Hotshots.
Score prediction: 31-12 Hotshots
I don’t expect to see much change in the AAF this week. No crazy upsets, just the same as what we’ve been seeing so far.
