PATRIOT LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!
— #19 Inside & Outside Army (@InOutArmy) May 5, 2019
Army opened the game on fire, Connor Dewitt scored the first two goals and Nate Jones scored a third goal. Goalie AJ Barretto was also making save after save. Army led 3-0 after one. It felt like Army was just going to pull away and not be challenged en route to winning the Patriot League title.
But Lehigh would respond in a big way. They won the second quarter 5-0 to take a two-goal lead into half time. It was an amazing performance by the Mountain Hawks and one of the worst quarters Army has played all season.
The third quarter was a lot better for the Black Knights, Nicholas Garofano scored early one in the quarter and Matt Manown scored a clutch goal to trim the Lehigh lead to 6-5.

The fourth quarter was all Brendan Nichtern. The Plebe put the team on his back scoring three goals and assisting on another one.

Army put six in the back of the net in the fourth to win the Patriot League Championship 11-7. It is the Black Knights first Patriot League Championship since 2010. That 2010 team went on to upset #2 Syracuse in the Carrier Dome in the first round.
The Black Knights will find out where they are playing tonight at 9 p.m. est.
Also, this is Army’s third Patriot League Championship in the last week (Golf and Women’s Tennis).
