Oklahoma Confirms 2020 Game Against Army Will Be At Michie Stadium

Army’s 2020 home slate just got more interesting.
Planned renovations to the historic stadium threatened to move the location of the game to a neutral site. But now the Sooners will be taking a trip to West Point to play the Black Knights in 2020.
“When we scheduled this particular series, that was one of the special opportunities that went along with putting it on our schedule,” OU athletic director Joe Castiglione told The Oklahoman. “It’s a very unique opportunity. A place with enormous tradition and history outside of sports. It’s a place few ever get the chance to go. Many would call it a bucket-list kind of opportunity.”
This will be the second game of a home and home series that nearly saw Army upset the soon to be playoff-bound Sooners and Heisman winner Kyler Murray. The Black Knights took them to overtime before losing 28-21.
“We’re still going to play a formidable opponent. We obviously realize the order of priorities but hopefully our team will get a chance to see West Point and to understand the history that took place there during some very difficult times in the growth of our country as well as what takes place there every single day in building the next generation of leaders in our military.” Castiglione also told The Oklahoman.
The last time Oklahoma played at Michie Stadium was 1946 with then-President Truman in attendance. The Black Knights won 21-7.
The game will take place on September 26th. It will be Oklahoma’s first road game against a non-P5 program since they played at Tulsa in 2014.
