2019-20 Army Basketball Preview: Part Two

Women’s Basketball

It’s a rebuilding year.
Army has 12 freshman/sophomores, only three seniors, and two sophomores.
Head coach Dave Magarity enters his 14th year at West Point and his job should be safe regardless of what happens this year due to his past success.
This year is going to be rough, but he’s building for the next two or three seasons.
Army returns senior Morgan Yancy who averaged 4.5 points and 1.9 rebounds per game, with 14 steals and a .750 free-throw percentage. They also bring back sophomore forward Kate Murray. She had 11 games with double-digit points, including eight of the final 12 games last year.

Non-conference is where Army can win some games before a tough Patriot League schedule.
They will have to ride Yancy and Murray to win some games they aren’t supposed to if they want to finish .500 or better in non-con.

As I said, it’s a rebuilding year for Army, they’d be happy just to sweep Navy and not finish last in the conference.
It’s likely going to be a rough year, but the team should at least be fun to watch.

Best Case Scenario

15-14

Worst Case Scenario

2-27

Most Likely Scenario

10-19
