The Army Black Knights are ranked #25 in the USA Today Amway Coaches Poll and #22 in the Associated Press Top 25.
This is the earliest Army has been ranked since 1959 when they began the season ranked fifth in the country.
Army has been ranked three times since 1962 and only once (Week 6, 1985) has that ranking come before Thanksgiving.
This is also the first time the Black Knights have made an appearance in the polls since week 12 of 2018 when they were ranked #22 and eventually peaked at #19 in the AP Poll.
This years Army team has gotten off to a roaring start. They are the only 2-0 team in the country, winning big against Middle Tennessee (42-0) and ULM (37-7).
New defensive coordinator Nate Woody has already had a huge impact on the Black Knight defense. The defense has been much more aggressive and looked absolutely dominant, all without their two top DB’s Javari Bourdeau and Jabari Moore.
Army had #21 BYU scheduled for next week, but due to a COVID-19 scare inside the BYU football program the game was postponed.
Army Athletic Director Mike Buddie had a little fun with the situation today on Twitter.
Undefeated, COVID negative college football team from NY looking for like minded, disciplined team for a date next Saturday… must also be COVID negative!
Twitter, do your thing!— Mike Buddie (@Buddie52) September 13, 2020
Currently Army’s next game is on the road against #13 Cincinnati on September 26th.
