The Wildcats have only played one game so far this season. They went into the fourth quarter tied against FBS foe UTEP.
In the fourth, UTEP scored a touchdown and ACU was only able to notch a field goal and their upset bid well short.
ACU QB Peyton Mansell’s mother and father, Kim and Mike, met at West Point where Kim played basketball and Mike played hockey.
Mansell had a good first game throwing for 197 yards on 13/20 passing with no picks or touchdowns.
Abilene Christian has one thing going for them, preparation. They haven’t played since September 20th, giving them extra time to prep for the triple option attack of Army.
Outside of extra prep time, there is not a lot they can do to win this game.
Jabari Moore is back.
In all seriousness though, Jabari Moore made his presence felt early on in the Cincinnati game last week. He returned a fumble for a touchdown on the first drive of the game and then had an interception a few drives later.
Despite the loss, Army’s defense performed well against the run. They held Cincinnati to just 2.0 yards per rush, the Bearcats’ lowest yards per rush total since 2016. They have held all three opponents under 100 rushing yards this year. They are now ranked 5th in rushing yards allowed per game (60.3).
Army has allowed only 31 points and forced eight turnovers through the first three games of the season which are both the best in the last decade.
Can Army’s offense get back to what we all expected this week?
A slow, sloppy, undisciplined game against Cincinnati killed any chances they had to win the game.
Christian Anderson will get back to the Christian Anderson we all know this week. An FCS opponent after a tough loss is exactly what the doctor ordered. This is a get right game.
I don’t see how Army doesn’t win this game by a huge margin. This could be like the ULM game where the Black Knights don’t play great but still blow the opponent out.
Anderson and McCoy will each have big games and Army wins even bigger.
